Hi. I’m Nate. I build WordPress plugins and themes for restaurants. In fact, I think I build the best plugins and themes for restaurants.
I want to tell you a little bit about who I am and why I think I’m different from some of the other theme shops out there.
I believe in WordPress as a platform, not just a business opportunity
I’m a developer at heart. I’ve been frustrated by poorly coded plugins and themes. My sites have crashed from bad updates. And I’ve had to wrestle with large, bloated plugins that slow my site down.
I developed priorities as a WordPress coder before I acquired priorities as a business owner. And that’s changed my perspective.
With every plugin I build I think carefully about how another developer — another me somewhere — might want to extend it, modify it, push it to it’s limit. As a result, I’ve built a suite of plugins that make extensive use of hooks to ensure they’re very extensible for a qualified developer.
Also, I know how difficult it can be to find a free plugin that isn’t total rubbish. I built a business in which my free plugins are a vital part of my business model. All of my commercial themes and plugins rely on my free plugins. If they’re not up to par, everything else I sell suffers.
And finally, I build products which are small, lightweight, and able to do their job without causing a huge impact on other plugins or themes you may be running. That often means that I offer fewer features than some of my competitors. But by offering less, I’m better able to guarantee the quality of what I do offer.
Don’t call me a theme shop
I’m not just cranking out website designs and dumping a bunch of restaurant-related stock photography into them. I’m more than a theme shop.
By focusing on the restaurant, café and bar industry, I’m able to make longer-term investments than your average theme shop.
That means building solutions that are vital to this industry, such as plugins for taking online reservations and employing local SEO techniques. It also means tailoring my solutions to business factors that really matter to restaurants, like improving the experience for customers viewing the website on their phone or tablet.
Because the suite of plugins and themes I have built are designed to work together, each new version or product I release adds to the value of the others.
This is what it means to really serve a niche, not just once or twice, but all the time. After years of doing this, I’ve built a set of tools which are stronger than the sum of their parts, and more valuable than any of the restaurant themes you’ll find from other theme shops out there.
